The Rotary Club of Worcester celebrated a memorable and inspiring evening on the occasion of its 2025/26 Presidential Induction.

Outgoing President Stephné Botha officially inducted Juanita Wilkinson as the new Club President. In her farewell address, President Stephné gave a heartfelt and informative speech highlighting the many successful projects completed under her leadership, showcasing the club’s impact on the Worcester community.

The evening was graced by the presence of District Governor Pam, who addressed the club and guests with words of encouragement and unity. She reiterated the Rotary International theme for the year: “Unite for Good”, a powerful call to service and collaboration.

In true spirit of community, the event was attended by various service organizations including the Lions Club, Vryburgers, Round Table, and the Ladies Circle of Worcester. Their presence added to the warm camaraderie and mutual commitment to service.

Among the highlights of the evening were the presentation of two Paul Harris Fellow Awards to Past President Johan Stofberg and Rotarian André Pretorius for their outstanding service. The prestigious Rotarian of the Year Award was presented to Rt Marcelle van Speyk, recognizing her dedication and exemplary contribution to the club.

A remarkable nine Rotarians were also honoured for achieving 100% attendance throughout the Rotary year – a testament to their commitment.

President Juanita Wilkinson proudly introduced her new directorate:

  • Rt Leonie Pelteret – President Elect & Club Service
  • PP Stephné Botha – Immediate Past President, Vice President, Master at Arms & New Members
  • Rt Heloise Beukes – Secretary
  • Rt Niekie Draper – Treasurer
  • Rt Marcelle van Speyk – Youth & Vocational, and Public Image
  • Rt André Pretorius – Community & Environmental
  • Rt Eugene Herbst – International Service

In her address, President Juanita emphasized a clear vision for the future: enhanced collaboration between Worcester’s service clubs to maximize their community impact. Her parting message struck a powerful note:

“Don’t search for what you are passionate about; instead, serve others to make yourself passionate.”

A new award, the “Rakker van die Jaar”, was introduced in collaboration with the Vryburgers Omgeemense van Worcester. The inaugural recipient, Rt André Pretorius, was a deserving honoree, recognized for his selfless and enthusiastic service.

The evening was filled with laughter, fines, friendship, and shared purpose, beautifully echoing this year’s slogan:
Unite for Good.
