On the 5th of September, ๐™๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ง๐™ฎ ๐™’๐™ค๐™ง๐™˜๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง proudly joined in celebrating Arbor Day by planting two fruit trees โ€“ a lemon and an orange โ€“ at ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ซ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™™ in Worcester.

Arbor Day was first introduced in South Africa in 1983 as a way to create awareness around the importance of trees. Initially a single-day celebration, it was extended to Arbor Week in 1999 and later to Arbor Month in 2010. The initiative highlights the vital role trees play in our daily lives: they provide us with food, medicine, timber, and shade; they improve air quality, create habitats for wildlife, and help combat the effects of climate change.

By planting these fruit trees, ๐™๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ง๐™ฎ ๐™’๐™ค๐™ง๐™˜๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง is investing in both the environment and the community. For ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ซ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™™, the trees are more than just greenery โ€“ they will, in time, provide fresh fruit, a cool resting spot on warm days, and a living reminder of care and partnership. It is a simple yet meaningful contribution that reflects Rotaryโ€™s commitment to creating lasting value in the spaces we serve.

When we plant a tree, we plant hope. Together, through small but intentional actions, we grow stronger, more resilient communities and leave a legacy for generations to come.
