President Juanita Wilkinson of the Rotary Club of Worcester recently had the honour of attending the Presidential Induction Ceremony of the Lions Club, where Lion Johann de Klerk was officially installed as the club’s new president.
The evening was a celebration of service and dedication, with several deserving members recognised for their outstanding contributions. Lion Albert Janse van Rensburg was named Lion of the Year — a well-earned tribute to his exceptional commitment to the club and community. Lion Jean Fouché and Lion Gavin Philips were honoured with the Louis Volks Humanitarian Award, the most prestigious award issued by Lions Clubs International in South Africa, in recognition of their outstanding humanitarian service.
In a warm gesture of fellowship between the two service organisations, President Juanita presented newly installed President Johann de Klerk with a club pennant from the Rotary Club of Worcester. A pennant is a small triangular or pointed flag bearing a club’s emblem and colors, traditionally exchanged between service clubs as a symbol of friendship, goodwill, and mutual respect. It serves as a lasting memento of the bond between clubs and the shared values that unite Rotary and Lions in service to our community.
The Rotary Club of Worcester congratulates President Johann and all award recipients, and looks forward to continued collaboration with the Lions Club in building a better Worcester.
