In an evening that reflected both prestige and purpose, the Rotary Club of Worcester marked a defining milestone with the induction of Leonie Pelteret as President for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
The ceremony, conducted by Assistant Governor Stuart Hunter, was elevated by the presence of distinguished guests and partners who share in the collective mission of service. Among those in attendance were President Johann de Klerk of Lions Worcester, Chairman Brandon van Heerden of Round Table 68, representatives from FNB and Nedbank, fellow Rotarians from other clubs, and honorary Rotarian and Past President David Reade — a testament to the strong network of collaboration that underpins meaningful community impact.
This was not simply a leadership transition. It was a statement of intent.
As part of the evening, now Past President Juanita Wilkinson delivered her annual address, showcasing the projects and achievements of her Rotary year — a fitting reflection on the work that laid the foundation for the year ahead.
Aligned with Rotary International’s call to “Create Lasting Impact,” Leonie Pelteret steps into leadership with a vision rooted in sustainability, connection, and measurable change. Her leadership reflects a balance of strength and humility — a commitment to ensuring that every initiative undertaken by the club leaves a legacy that extends beyond the present.
Recognising Excellence
The evening also shone a spotlight on excellence within the club:
- Rt Eugene Herbst was named “Vryburger Omgeemense van Worcester – Rakker van die Jaar,” recognising his exceptional dedication, energy, and contribution.
- Rt Heloise Beukes received the prestigious President’s Award, honouring her unwavering commitment and service.
These recognitions underscore the calibre of individuals who form part of the Rotary Club of Worcester — a collective of people who do more than serve; they lead, uplift, and transform.
