The Rotary Club of Worcester is proud to share the impact of another meaningful District Grant, initiated by our newly inducted President, Leonie Pelteret.
Following the devastating floods that affected communities in Rawsonville and surrounding areas, many families were left struggling to meet even the most basic needs. Among those affected were school-going children who lost their school clothing—an essential part of their daily lives and sense of belonging.
Through this grant, school uniforms were distributed to learners at Goudini, Rawsonville, and Weltevrede Primary Schools. Ten children who had lost their clothing in the floods were supported, ensuring they could return to school with dignity.
We often speak about access to education, but it is important to remember that learning begins with meeting basic needs. Going to school with full bellies and warm bodies makes all the difference. And having a proper school uniform does more than meet a requirement—it instils pride, builds confidence, and allows children to feel equal among their peers.
This initiative is a reminder that sometimes the smallest acts—providing clothing, restoring dignity—can have the greatest impact.
