On 10 August, the Rotary Club of Worcester was privileged to be part of a very special Women’s Day celebration honouring some of the remarkable senior ladies in the Worcester community.
Hosted by Desire Wesch, owner of Taste Catering & Events in Worcester, the afternoon took the form of a delightful tea party, bringing together women whose lives, wisdom, strength and love have helped shape generations.
The ladies were treated to a beautiful selection of delicious eats and refreshing drinks, creating an afternoon filled with conversation, laughter, fellowship and, most importantly, appreciation.
But the celebration went beyond a lovely afternoon tea.
With the assistance of the Rotary Club of Worcester, and in collaboration with Dis-Chem Worcester, the event also provided the ladies with much-needed toiletries. These practical gifts were a small but meaningful reminder that caring for our community means recognising both the dignity and everyday needs of those we serve.
Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate women, but it is especially meaningful when we pause to honour our mothers and matriarchs.
These are the women who have carried families through difficult seasons, nurtured children, supported husbands, built homes, worked tirelessly, offered wisdom and quietly held communities together. Their contributions are not always recorded in history books, but their fingerprints are found everywhere.
They are the storytellers, the caregivers, the advice-givers, the keepers of family traditions and the women whose strength has often been the foundation upon which others have built their lives.
The Rotary Club of Worcester was delighted to stand alongside Taste Catering & Events and Dis-Chem Worcester in celebrating these extraordinary women.
Because sometimes service is not about solving a huge problem. Sometimes it is simply about saying:
We see you.
We value you.
We thank you.
And today, we celebrate YOU.
To our mothers, grandmothers and matriarchs: thank you for the lives you have shaped, the wisdom you have shared and the love you have given so generously.
You deserve your flowers, your tea, your treats and your moment in the spotlight.
